Wes Walker is a rapper and DJ from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who graduated from Temple University with a degree in media studies and production. He was signed with Atlantic Records. In the summer of 2015 he released his first mixtape, Next Rookie of the Year, as a free download, filled with samples and crude lyrics as Walker rapped over catchy trap beats with a nasally delivery reminiscent of a young Eminem or Drake. He released the video for “Pop the Fuck Off,” a track from the mixtape, which sampled Pharoah Monche’s “Simon Says” (which, in turn, sampled the Godzilla versus Mothra theme “Gojira Tai Mosura!” by Akira Ifukube). Garnering modest success with fellow college rapper Dyl on the EDM/trap single “Jordan Belfort” — an ode to that notorious Wolf of Wall Street that had over 155 million streams on Spotify. He embarked on a College Weekly tour across college campuses in the United States.
